Mobile Device Safety from Hackers: Is your handset safe?
The hacks and security issues have now filtered down from PCs to Smartphone’s, thanks to the internet enabled handsets. The cyber criminals have now moved their attention to attacking mobile devices that includes handsets and tablets.
We as users have come a long way from using our phones for just sending and receiving calls and texts. We are now dependent on our handsets for almost all the activities. From emails to chatting to browsing and even online shopping are all now possible on the hand held devices. This is what makes them highly vulnerable and all the smart phone users ask the same question, are their handsets safe from hackers?
If you use insecure apps, then no
The mobile hacks can happen in many ways but the easiest way is to do it via insecure apps that give far more access to your personal information than you intended to. If you use a lot of apps, it is always better to check the permissions you are giving and if possible restrict the access through privacy settings in your handset. The fraud applications have the highest rate of tricking the users into sharing their private information which is then hacked into by the attacker. Always check the reviews and study the app thoroughly before downloading it.
Use mobile protection
Unlike PCs that have social threat protection with Antivirus for Mac and all the other operating systems, our mobile devices do not have that privilege. This is why we have to protect the mobile devices even more securely. The need for verified apps has become a mandate to keep all our confidential data secure without impacting the browsing experience of the user.
