Kanchipuram Temple


Kanchipuram is one of India's seven sacred cities and the second holiest after Varanasi.It is one of the most sacred Hindu pilgrimage sites in India and the seat of the Sri Shankaracharya.It is one of the seven sacred cities of the Hindus especially to devotees of Shiva as well as to worshippers of Vishnu.Kanchi is one of the seven Mokshapuris - sacred cities by living in which or by death there in man gets emancipation from birth and death. It is famous for its ancient temples. The grand architecture of these ancient temples clearly indicates towards the south Indian style of temple architecture . The temples of Kanchipuram were built by different dynas.This city is also famous for quality silk with elegant combination of contrasting colors which is an essential part of Indian marriages.Kanchipuram town is thus divided into two distinct zones, with the Shaivite temples to the north and the Vaishnavite temples to the southeast.
