Windows Search Enhanced Mode - A New Feature in Windows 10 V1903


When you want to find some certain files on your computer quickly but you don’t know their locations, you can use the Search feature to do the job. However, the search box is unable to show results from all local storages.

Normally, Windows Search is always limited to looking in the certain locations by default like the local documents, pictures, videos, folders, start menu and desktop. Even in some older versions such as Windows 10 October 2018 Update and the previous versions, Windows Search can’t scan the entire computer when it is finding specific items.

Of course, you can use Windows Search to find the internet, libraries (like Documents, Downloads, Music, Pictures, Videos) and desktop quickly. But, it is unable to scan all the local drives by default.

It will take a while to search for the files that are not included in indexed locations. Even sometimes, you can’t get the search result you want.

Good news is that there will be a new feature in Windows 10 May 2019 Update and this new feature can improve Windows Search capabilities largely.
