Corn sourdough bread

https://www.mydailysourdoughbread.com

I was really looking forward to this year’s winter solstice which for me is a real new beginning, a real start of the new year. Today with sourdough bread: homemade yogurt + bounty yogurt

https://www.mydailysourdoughbread.com

I like basics. Or better to say, I like going back to basics. It is like going back home, very grounding. For me, one of the most inspiring ‘going back to basics’ rituals is making basic , simple and nutritious foods, like sourdough bread and other fermented foods – especially vegetables and yogurt.

Rye sourdough bread with homemade yogurt

https://www.mydailysourdoughbread.com

I’ve just realized the other day that I’ve baked my second rye sourdough bread so far. I was quite surprised by this fact, since I use rye flour for my sourdough starter all the time and I really like rye flour but I haven’t really used it in the dough.

https://www.mydailysourdoughbread.com

The snow on the roof window has finally melted and it was time to dip my hands into the dough again. I didn’t have to think for too long what my next challenge would be – sourdough doughnuts. There was a carnival this weekend in Slovenia and although I didn’t get dressed in any mask to scare the winter, I was in the carnival mode with my sourdough doughnuts. Fair enough.

Today with sourdough bread: creamy cauliflower soup

https://www.mydailysourdoughbread.com

Stale bread is something quite rare in my kitchen. I usually bake one sourdough loaf once per week and eat it in the next three or four days (OK, sometimes in three hours). After four days your sourdough bread has probably lost most of its crunchiness but there is solution for that – make croutons and mix them in a soup afterwards. The aroma of toasted slices will give a nice nutty tinge to your soup and then you will start making croutons out of fresh bread. Like I did and do.

Whole grain wheat sourdough loaf

https://www.mydailysourdoughbread.com

There is something special about the whole grain flour. About the bran in it. It seems the entire grain’s story sneaks to the light, if there is just a pair of ears to hear it. The story about the sunbathing, bending in the wind, resistance, and growth. About ups and downs. About the time needed to mature.

https://www.walkiesandwhiskers.com

When you first bring your dog home to be part of your family, it is a joyous occasion. However, rather than have your canine companion around for 50 or so years, you may only have your four-legged friend as a family member for 10-15 years. At some point, the time may come when your dog is so ill that euthanasia may be the final act of care and compassion you can show them. If you’re wondering what do vets do after they put a dog to sleep and how you should prepare yourself for that moment, seek out the advice of your vet and keep the following tips in mind.
