- How to Install SSD in PC? A Detailed Guide Is Here for You! 2 years 1 week ago
As to types of hard drives, SSD and HDD are two common types. An HDD is a traditional hard drive that can offer large storage capacity but relatively slow boot time and low PC performance. An SSD, solid-state drive, is popular with many users due to its fast speed, no noise, good performance, etc.
You may want to install an SSD to the machine so that Windows can boot up or shut down faster, programs can load faster and the PC can respond quickly. Some of you may want to replace the HDD with an SSD or some want to keep both of these two hard drives into the computer and set an SSD as primary drive and HDD as a storage disk.
In this post, we will show you how to install an SSD into a PC without reinstalling Windows.

- The Best Way to Transfer Windows 10 to New Hard Drive 4 years 37 weeks ago
After a long time, the hard drive is easy to wear out, leading to disk damage. As to system disk, Windows 10 is likely to boot incorrectly. Besides, the installed software, some caches, temporary files and other data will occupy much disk space, which can make your PC run slowly. When facing one of these two situations, to transfer Windows 10 to new hard drive to replace the damaged, old or small hard disk can be a good choice for the better computer performance.
- How to Replace Laptop Hard Drive and Reinstall Operating System? 1 year 39 weeks ago
You may need to replace your hard drive no matter you are using a desktop or laptop. When you encounter one of these cases, hard drive replacement is necessary:
The PC runs slowly and you plan to replace your HDD with an SSD to get fast speed.
You want to upgrade to a large hard drive when the disk space is not enough.
If your PC experiences signs of hard drive failure, it is better to replace the disk before it completely damages. This gives you a chance to save the data stored on it including the Windows operating system.
But there is a trouble that is the Windows operating system after replacing the old hard drive with a new one. It is the first thing you need to solve. Or else, your computer cannot work at all.
For a laptop, disk replacement is not an easy job when compared with a desktop, and today we will show you the topic – how to replace laptop hard drive and reinstall operating system.
- What Is Windows 10 Install Size? How Big Is Windows 10? 1 year 4 days ago
Nowadays Windows 10 is a very popular operating system. Because of its strong safety and powerful features, many users all over the world have upgraded to this OS. You may not be an exception and plan to install Windows 10 on your computer.
Before you do, it makes sense to look at the minimum amount of storage it requires, particularly if the hard drive doesn’t have much capacity (it may be 128GB). Unless there is sufficient disk space on your computer disk, many storage issues may occur frequently when having a Windows operating system that doesn’t have much free disk space left.
- How Do I Clone Disk in Windows 7/8/10 4 years 33 weeks ago
As we know, we not only install operating system, programs on our hard drive but also store our personal data on hard drive. Once our hard drive is damaged, we cannot access our data, and even cannot start computer normally. Therefore, more and more users choose to clone their hard drive in case of any accidents. But, how to clone disk in Windows 7/8/10? Is it possible to clone Windows disk without paying a dime?
If you don’t know how to effectively and quickly clone disk for free, then you have come to the right place. MiniTool Partition Wizard, a free, professional and green partition magic developed by MiniTool Solution Ltd., is recommended here. This tool offers Copy Dis feature to help you easily clone hard drive without worrying about data loss. Besides, considering many modern humans don’t want to spend time learning a new program, MiniTool Partition Wizard not only offers wizard-like interfaces but also provides detailed operating prompts. It’s hardly an exaggeration to say that even our grandmother can quickly clone disk with this professional partitioning magic. More important, this tool is compatible with almost all operating systems including Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 10, and so on.

- What Is Disk Signature Collision and How to Fix It? 2 years 31 weeks ago
Data storage devices are important parts of your computer. They can be used to save, port, and extract files. Usually, there is more than one storage device on your computer. In order to distinguish each device on your computer system, these devices have their unique numbers that are called Disk Signature for identification.
This unique disk identifier is a part of the Master Boot Record (MBR). The operating system uses the disk signature to identify the different data storage devices on your computer
In theory, every storage device has a unique signature. But, why disk signature collision still happens?
When you need a larger hard drive to save more data, you will need to clone data from the original drive to the new larger one.
During the cloning process, drives need to make a similar copy to use both the cloned copy and the original one. At the same time, the virtualization tools are used to virtualize the physical hard disk drives that are virtualized to create virtual hard disk drive and several virtual machine clones are created with the existing Virtual hard disk drives.
You can see that they are identical copies, so it is quite possible that these copies might have the same disk signature. In a situation like this, you may encounter the disk signature collision issue.
Indeed, the disk offline signature collision is a rare issue because Windows OS doesn’t allow two hard drive disks to work at the same time if they have the same disk signature:
In the old Windows OS like Windows XP and Windows Vista, the system can automatically modify the disk signature if there is a disk signature collision.
In Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 10, the situation will be different. If two data storage drives have the same disk signature, the second drive that causes disk signature collision will be changed to the offline state automatically. You will be unable to use that disk before correcting the disk signature collision.
