Groundbreaking Storage Technology for Future Mobility
With the growing demand for data computing and storage capabilities in future vehicles, Samsung’s market-proven storage technology will be a key pillar in accelerating the development of data-driven mobility. At IAA 2023, Samsung will focus on showcasing its full range of storage solutions for future automotive applications, including LPDDR5X, GDDR7, automotive SSDs, and UFS 3.1 that meet automotive-specific certifications, which are broadly applicable to in-vehicle infotainment systems, advanced driver assistance systems, and other application scenarios that require high-performance and high-capacity storage. Based on its comprehensive automotive product portfolio and extensive ecosystem partnerships, Samsung aims to become one of the world’s largest suppliers of automotive memory by 2025, enabling more users around the world to realize a fully connected mobility experience.
Enhancing the Driving Experience with Innovative System LSI Solutions
With the electrification and digitalization of the automotive sector, in-car entertainment and safety are becoming defining attributes of the next generation of vehicles. During IAA, Samsung will showcase a portfolio of in-vehicle application processors, sensors tailored for in-vehicle applications, designed to meet the escalating needs of the automotive industry. Samsung’s Exynos Auto V920 processor, optimized for advanced in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) systems, enables smooth playback of graphic-rich videos and games across multiple displays. Meanwhile, Samsung’s ISOCELL Auto sensor provides a 360-degree view of the car from the front view (ISOCELL Auto 1H1) to the rear view and surround view (ISOCELL Auto 4AC) to secure the safety of the driver and passengers. Samsung is also extending its safety features to the interior of the car, demonstrating in-vehicle sensor technology for driver and passenger detection to detect and alert drivers to potentially unsafe driving conditions such as drowsiness, fatigue and distraction.
Samsung Foundry Broadens the Boundaries of In-vehicle Semiconductor Innovation
In response to the booming in-vehicle semiconductor market, Samsung Foundry is strategically strengthening its innovative products and process technologies for the automotive industry. At IAA, Samsung Semiconductor will showcase its latest in-vehicle design solutions, including SoCs, Power Management ICs (PMICs) and Battery Management ICs (BMICs), and automotive microcontrollers (MCUs) for IVI and ADAS, utilizing the latest foundry processes. Samsung will also highlight its in-vehicle process technology roadmap, with the goal of completing mass production readiness for the in-vehicle 4-nanometer (SF4A) process by 2025 and the in-vehicle 2-nanometer process (SF2A) by 2026. To achieve this goal, Samsung Foundry is strengthening its IP readiness in analog, memory interface, high-speed interface, information security and wafer-to-wafer (D2D), as well as design infrastructure readiness.
Next-Generation LED Technology for the Future of Automobiles
Samsung will also showcase outstanding highly customizable LED lighting solutions ideal for the self-driving electric vehicles of the future, with PixCell LEDs as an intelligent Adaptive High Beam (ADB) innovation that enables automakers to achieve high precision and selective lighting control on small-sized luminaires. Samsung’s next-generation Micro LED technology enables full HD resolution on a compact 0.25-inch display, which is highly adaptable to ultra-high resolution head-up displays (HUDs) and supports real-time viewing of driving information through AR glasses. In addition, Samsung’s Mini LED technology, as a higher-order vehicle-to-electronics (V2X) solution, will enable highly sophisticated animation effects to enhance communication with other vehicles and pedestrians.
